STEPS

Step by step, the Ontario Association of Career Colleges makes it easier for members to abide by the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Over 55,000 transcripts have been stored to date using the Student Transcript Electronic Protection System (STEPS), a service provided by OACC. About 300 colleges currently use the system.

Launched in September of 2007, the  STEPS website has been custom-built to provide easy and secure access for private career colleges to store and retrieve student transcript data.

“It’s a three-step system. Users upload the transcript, check for errors or changes, add funds and then store it securely for 25 years,” said Paul Kitchin, OACC Executive Director.

The site provides former career college students with a simple method of requesting copies of transcripts for at least 25 years following the end of their programs of study.
